Private School Admission Essay Coaching

Private School Admission Essay Coaching

The application essay is often the only place in the entire process where an admissions committee hears your child’s actual voice.

Test scores tell them what your child can do. Transcripts tell them what your child has done. The essay tells them who your child is, and it is the one piece a family can still shape in the weeks before a deadline.

We offer one-on-one, fully online admissions writing support, delivered live through Zoom or Google Meet.

What we help with

The main personal essay

Finding a subject worth writing about, which is usually not the most impressive thing that ever happened to your child but the most revealing. Then shaping it into something with a beginning, a turn, and a reason for the reader to care.

Short answer responses

The three-line questions families often leave until the last night. Why this school, favorite book, how you spend your time, what you would change. These are read closely, and thin answers are noticed.

Supplemental and school specific prompts

Each school asks something slightly different for a reason. We help your child answer the question the school actually asked.

Application forms and written components

The activities lists, descriptions, and short written pieces scattered across the application that families frequently rush.

Parent statements

Many private schools ask parents to write about their own child. It is harder than it sounds. We can help you say what you mean without overselling.

Timed and on-site writing samples

Some schools require a writing sample during a visit or as part of admissions testing. We prepare students to plan and draft well under a clock.

How our process works

A complimentary consultation: We learn about your child, the schools on your list, and what each application requires.

Brainstorming, out loud: Most students do not know which of their stories is the good one. We talk until it surfaces. This conversation is usually the single most valuable session.

Structure before sentences: We help your child plan the shape of the piece before drafting, which prevents the most common outcome, a first draft that wanders and a student who does not know why it isn’t working.

Drafting: Your child writes. We are there to ask questions, not to supply lines.

Revision: We read the draft with the eyes of an admissions reader and tell your child specifically what is landing, what is vague, and what a reader will not believe. Then they revise it themselves.

Final polish: Mechanics, tone, and length, so nothing distracts from what your child is saying.

We coach. We never ghostwrite.

We want to be direct about this, because families deserve to know exactly what they are buying.

We will not write your child’s essay. We will not rewrite it into our own voice, and we will not hand back a document with our sentences in it. Admissions readers see thousands of essays and are quite good at recognizing when an adult wrote one. An essay that sounds like a 45 year old is not an advantage.

What we will do is teach your child to write something honest, specific, and unmistakably theirs, and then help them make it as strong as it can be. The work is theirs. The skill stays with them.

The complete admissions picture

Admissions essay coaching pairs naturally with ISEE preparation and interview practice. Families working through the full application process can ask about our Complete Private School Admissions Package, which brings testing, writing, and interview readiness together on one timeline.

Ask us during your consultation and we will recommend what your family actually needs.

Format and logistics

Sessions are one-on-one and held live online through Zoom or Google Meet. Because deadlines cluster in the fall and winter, we recommend beginning at least six to eight weeks before your earliest application is due. If your timeline is tighter, contact us anyway and we will tell you honestly what we can accomplish.

Our founder holds Texas certifications in Generalist grades 4 through 8 and Special Education and spent over 20 years teaching students to write. We are a BBB Accredited Business and an approved TEFA vendor.
